Au carrefour de l'économie et de la finance
Comme l’indique le titre de mon discours, j’aimerais aborder avec vous les liens qui existent entre l’économie réelle – c’est-à-dire le monde tangible des emplois et des biens et services – et le monde moins tangible de la finance – c’est-à-dire celui des flux monétaires, des taux d’intérêt et des marchés boursiers. Les deux entretiennent depuis longtemps des relations mouvementées. -

Revue du système financier - Juin 2013
Le Conseil de direction estime que les risques pesant sur le système financier canadien ont quelque peu diminué depuis la parution de la Revue du système financier en décembre dernier, mais que le niveau de risque global demeure élevé. Les sources de risque majeures sont en gros les mêmes qu’alors et résultent essentiellement du contexte extérieur.
Erratum : À la page 44 de la livraison de juin 2013 de la Revue du système financier, dans l’article intitulé « Le point sur les normes de liquidité de Bâle III », la phrase « En font notamment partie les obligations de sociétés non financières moins bien notées, les actions de sociétés financières de premier ordre et les titres adossés à des créances hypothécaires résidentielles de qualité élevée » aurait dû être rédigée ainsi : « En font notamment partie les obligations de sociétés non financières moins bien notées, les actions de sociétés non financières de premier ordre et les titres adossés à des créances hypothécaires résidentielles de qualité élevée ». L’économie canadienne devrait progresser de 2 1/2 % cette année et d'un peu moins de 2 % en 2018 et 2019. -

Les paiements de détail : éléments nouveaux, enjeux et initiatives
Les innovations en matière de technologies de base de l'information, d'applications propres aux paiements et d'accès au marché international ainsi que les modifications notables apportées à la réglementation du secteur financier ont profondément modifié le fonctionnement du système de paiement des transactions de détail au Canada. Ces transformations se sont principalement traduites par l'augmentation du volume et de la variété des paiements électroniques et par la participation accrue de divers groupes d'institutions financières et non financières à la fonction de fournisseurs de services de paiement de détail. L'enjeu qui en découle, pour les exploitants de systèmes de paiement, consiste à déterminer la meilleure façon de tirer parti des gains d'efficience tout en gérant les risques liés aux paiements. M. O'Connor examine les conséquences que les modifications de nature technologique et législative et les initiatives lancées par les secteurs public et privé ont eues dans certains domaines, tels que les modalités de l'offre de services; les risques et les coûts que suppose pour les clients le règlement des paiements de détail de grande valeur; la sécurité de l'information relative aux paiements et l'efficience de la transmission de cette information; et les effets de régimes de réglementation différents sur la concurrence entre fournisseurs de services de paiement de détail. -

La pandémie de COVID-19 a entraîné une récession atypique, dans le sens que certains secteurs de l’économie ont prospéré tandis que d’autres se sont effondrés. Pour réagir à cette situation, il a fallu adopter une politique budgétaire particulière afin d’appuyer les entreprises et de stimuler l’activité des secteurs qui avaient des capacités excédentaires. La politique budgétaire a-t-elle permis d’atteindre les résultats souhaités? En général, oui. -
Explaining and Forecasting Inflation in Emerging Markets: The Case of Mexico
Les auteurs ont recours à des modèles d'inflation qui se prêtent bien à l'étude des économies industrialisées pour examiner le cas d'un pays à marché émergent, le Mexique, qui a récemment axé sa politique monétaire sur la poursuite d'une cible d'inflation. Ils comparent l'efficacité de ces modèles à celle d'un modèle souvent utilisé pour l'analyse de l'inflatio n au Mexique : le modèle dit de « mark-up », dans lequel le niveau des prix s'obtient par addition d'une marge préétablie aux coûts. -

Après avoir progressé de 1,7 % en 2012, l’économie canadienne devrait croître de 1,8 % en 2013 et de 2,7 % en 2014 et en 2015, et atteindre sa pleine capacité au milieu de 2015, comme anticipé dans le Rapport d’avril. -

Revue du système financier - Juin 2017
La présente livraison de la Revue du système financier reflète le jugement de la Banque, à savoir que le niveau d’endettement des ménages canadiens et les déséquilibres sur le marché du logement – les plus importantes vulnérabilités pour le système financier canadien – se sont accentués au cours des six derniers mois. Cependant, le système financier canadien reste résilient, et les conditions macroéconomiques s’améliorent encore. D’autres vulnérabilités analysées dans cette livraison de la Revue sont la fragilité de la liquidité des marchés de titres à revenu fixe ainsi que la capacité des interconnexions au sein du système financier à atténuer les cybermenaces.
