La performance des banques centrales en régime de cibles d'inflation
L'auteur examine l'apport des divers facteurs qui concourent à l'atteinte de la cible d'inflation. L'étude de données portant sur un groupe de 21 pays pourvus d'une cible d'inflation, et couvrant la période du premier trimestre de 1990 au deuxième trimestre de 2007, met en lumière des disparités notables entre les banques centrales quant au respect de leurs cibles respectives. Les mouvements de change, les déficits des finances publiques et les niveaux de développement différents du secteur financier peuvent expliquer une partie des écarts observés. Les autres écarts tiennent plutôt à des différences dans le régime lui-même et les caractéristiques de sa mise en oeuvre. -
