Comprendre et mesurer le risque de liquidité : une sélection d’études récentes
Durant la récente crise financière, l’une des conséquences des pertes subies initialement sur les prêts hypothécaires à risque a été la baisse considérable de la liquidité de marché des actifs et de la capacité des institutions financières à lever des fonds sur les marchés de gros. L’article résume les recherches menées récemment sur le rôle de la liquidité dans la déstabilisation du système financier et examine leurs implications pour les réformes du système financier annoncées dernièrement, dont Bâle III. -

Fooled by Search: Housing Prices, Turnover and Bubbles
L’auteur construit et estime un modèle en vue d’expliquer l’évolution des prix des maisons aux États-Unis. Principal constat de l’étude : la hausse des prix enregistrée par rapport au niveau tendanciel durant la bulle immobilière qu’a connue ce pays entre 1995 et 2006 peut s’expliquer à hauteur de plus de 70 % par le fait que les agents évaluent les prix des maisons sur la base de prémisses erronées. -
L'effet de la richesse sur la consommation aux États-Unis
La forte augmentation de la richesse au cours de la deuxième moitié des années 1990 a généré l'équivalent d'un certain montant d'épargne et, du même coup, un glissement important du taux d'épargne des ménages. Dans la présente étude, l'auteur tente d'expliquer cette baisse importante du taux d'épargne observée depuis 1995. -
