La modélisation de canaux financiers aux fins de l’analyse de la politique monétaire
La Banque du Canada considère un très large éventail de données et d'analyses avant d'en venir à une décision concernant la politique monétaire; elle recourt à des modèles soigneusement conçus pour créer des projections économiques et examiner plusieurs scénarios. L'article fait état des projets de recherche en cours à la Banque en vue de mettre au point des modèles au sein desquels les variables financières jouent un rôle actif dans la transmission des mesures de politique monétaire à l'activité économique. Ces modèles peuvent faciliter l'analyse de l'information économique du point de vue financier et fournir une vue d'ensemble des répercussions de l'évolution financière sur les perspectives économiques actuelles. Les auteurs expliquent en outre comment ces projets de recherche peuvent contribuer à résoudre d'autres questions fondamentales liées aux objectifs de la politique monétaire, par exemple celle de savoir comment les variations des prix des actifs doivent être incorporées dans le cadre de conduite de la politique monétaire. -

The Role of Central Banks in Promoting Financial Stability: An International Perspective
La crise financière mondiale de 2007-2009 a amené les décideurs publics du monde entier, y compris les banques centrales, à réorienter les efforts déployés pour favoriser la stabilité financière. Dans le cadre de ce processus, les banques centrales se sont appliquées à soutenir la stabilité financière de diverses façons, notamment en communiquant publiquement leurs évaluations des vulnérabilités et des risques du système financier et en contribuant à renforcer la réglementation, la surveillance et les mesures macroprudentielles. -
Markups and Inflation in Oligopolistic Markets: Evidence from Wholesale Price Data
Nous étudions comment l’interaction entre le pouvoir de marché et la rigidité des prix nominaux influe sur la dynamique de l’inflation. Nous constatons que dans un contexte où les marchés sont concentrés, plus les prix sont rigides, moins les chocs de coûts se répercutent sur les prix affichés par les entreprises. Ce résultat implique une pente plus basse de la courbe de Phillips des nouveaux keynésiens.
