Cette livraison renferme un résumé du colloque annuel de la Banque, qui a eu lieu en novembre 2011 et était consacré aux systèmes de paiement, et deux articles où sont décrites les recherches du personnel de la Banque sur les déséquilibres des balances courantes dans le monde et l’évaluation des risques macrofinanciers. Le quatrième article passe en revue les récents résultats livrés par les régimes de ciblage de l’inflation. -
Foreign Flows and Their Effects on Government of Canada Yields
Les flux d’investissements étrangers dans les obligations du gouvernement du Canada ont fortement augmenté depuis la crise financière. D’après notre analyse empirique, entre 2009 et 2012, les flux de capitaux étrangers, qui se chiffraient à 150 milliards de dollars, ont eu pour effet d’abaisser de 100 points de base le taux de rendement des obligations du gouvernement du Canada à dix ans. -

The Endogenous Relative Price of Investment
L’auteur utilise une méthode d’analyse basée sur un modèle structurel et des données complètes pour évaluer le lien entre les chocs technologiques spécifiques à l’investissement et l’inverse du prix relatif de l’investissement. Il propose un modèle bisectoriel intégrant une structure de concurrence monopolistique où les entreprises peuvent faire varier le taux de marge appliqué à leur produit en fonction du nombre de firmes concurrentes. -

Réformes structurelles et croissance économique dans les économies de marché émergentes
La croissance a ralenti dans de nombreuses économies de marché émergentes depuis la crise financière mondiale de 2007–2009, un ralentissement qui s’explique par des facteurs aussi bien cycliques que structurels. Dans ce contexte, il sera de plus en plus important pour les économies émergentes de rehausser leur croissance potentielle en veillant à faire avancer les réformes structurelles. De quelle manière les réformes structurelles contribuent-elles de façon générale à la croissance? Quels sont les objectifs prioritaires des réformes dans les économies émergentes, que ce soit aujourd’hui ou dans un passé récent? Enfin, quel sera l’effet des réformes structurelles qui ont été planifiées sur la croissance de la production potentielle des principales économies émergentes? Voici quelques-unes des questions auxquelles s’attaquent les auteurs. -
Foreign Exchange Interventions: The Long and the Short of It
Nous étudions les effets des interventions sur le marché des changes dans un modèle à deux régions où les gouvernements émettent des obligations à court et à long terme. Nous constatons que le canal de la prime de terme domine celui de la balance commerciale dans notre modèle. Par conséquent, les interventions sur le marché des changes n’ont pas les effets habituels des actions entreprises selon le mode du « chacun pour soi ».
