Le phénomène d’atteinte de la valeur plancher des taux d’intérêt nominaux observée dans de nombreux pays ces dernières années a renouvelé l’intérêt porté aux avantages des cibles d’inflation supérieures à 2 %. Nous cherchons à savoir dans quelle mesure l’économie canadienne gagnerait en stabilité macroéconomique si la cible d’inflation était portée à 3 ou à 4 %. -

Revue du système financier - Décembre 2015
La section « Rapports » de la Revue du système financier aborde des questions intéressant les systèmes financiers canadien et mondial. Les deux rapports contenus dans la livraison de décembre 2015 traitent de changements importants au sein du système financier en lien avec la situation financière des ménages, à savoir le rôle accru de la titrisation des prêts hypothécaires à l’habitation dans le financement du logement au Canada et l’évolution des caractéristiques de l’endettement chez les ménages canadiens. -
Systemic Risk and Collateral Adequacy
Au sein de nombreux marchés de produits dérivés, les garanties exigées sont calculées au moyen de formules conformes aux normes du secteur, mais qui n’ont pas été élaborées de manière à tenir compte du risque systémique. Dans cette étude, nous cherchons à déterminer si la prudence inhérente aux exigences usuelles de garanties vient contrebalancer l’absence de prise en compte du risque systémique. -
Assessing Vulnerabilities in Emerging-Market Economies
Dans cet article, nous exposons un nouvel outil visant à surveiller les vulnérabilités économiques et financières dans les pays émergents. Nous obtenons, pour la période allant de 1990 à 2017, des indices de vulnérabilité pour plusieurs indicateurs avancés couvrant 26 marchés émergents. Nous utilisons ces indices pour suivre l’évolution des vulnérabilités avant, pendant et après une crise économique ou financière. -

Les auteurs étudient les ratios de levier, de fonds propres et de liquidité des banques au Canada. Ces ratios sont d’importants indicateurs des différents types de risques du point de vue de la gestion des bilans bancaires. Les auteurs prêtent une attention particulière aux observations concernant différents types d’établissements, notamment les banques de petite taille auxquelles on est historiquement moins attentif. -
