Les modèles avec risque de long terme (Bansal et Yaron, 2004) et les modèles affines basés sur l’absence d’arbitrage (Duffie, Pan et Singleton, 2000) mettent l’accent sur des sources de risque qui échappent à l’observation de l’économètre. -

L'évolution des écarts de taux d'intérêt à long terme entre le Canada et les États-Unis depuis 1990
Les écarts de taux d'intérêt à long terme entre le Canada et les États-Unis ont connu un revirement remarquable ces dernières années. Les écarts exceptionnellement prononcés observés durant la première moitié de la décennie ont fait place à une série d'écarts négatifs d'une ampleur sans précédent. Dans le présent article, l'auteur analyse les aspects conceptuels des rendements des actifs internationaux et applique sa recherche au cas du Canada et des États-Unis. Avant 1995, les investisseurs ne savaient pas si l'inflation, sur longue période, évoluerait dans les limites des fourchettes cibles établies par le gouvernement et la Banque. La crédibilité de la politique monétaire était minée par d'importants déficits budgétaires et l'incertitude politique. Au cours de la deuxième moitié de la décennie, la confiance a été rétablie à la faveur de l'assainissement des finances publiques, du maintien de la stabilité des prix à long terme et de la diminution des préoccupations entourant la situation politique au Québec. Tant que l'effet de ces facteurs fondamentaux continuera de se faire sentir, les taux à long terme devraient se maintenir à un niveau relativement bas, et ce même si les taux à court terme s'inscrivent en hausse. -

Price-Level Dispersion versus Inflation-Rate Dispersion: Evidence from Three Countries
L’inflation peut avoir un effet sur la dispersion des niveaux de prix de certains produits dans plusieurs régions du monde (variabilité des prix relatifs, VPR) et sur la dispersion des taux d’inflation (variabilité de l’inflation relative, VIR). D’après une partie des modèles de coûts d’affichage et des modèles de prospection qui illustrent les démarches des consommateurs, la relation entre inflation et VIR pourrait différer de la relation entre inflation et VPR. -

Malgré la multitude de travaux empiriques consacrés à l’incidence de l’intégration financière sur l’économie, il reste difficile de confirmer les gains de bien-être considérables censés provenir du partage du risque de consommation. Tout en gardant l’approche multipays d’autres recherches, cette étude rend en outre explicitement compte de l’hétérogénéité des ménages et assouplit ainsi trois hypothèses restrictives habituellement retenues. -
Inference in Games Without Nash Equilibrium: An Application to Restaurants’ Competition in Opening Hours
Cette étude lève le postulat d’équilibre de Nash bayésien habituellement imposé dans les jeux empiriques avec choix discrets en information incomplète. Au lieu de supposer que les joueurs ont des attentes non biaisées (parfaites), mon modèle traite les croyances d’un joueur à l’égard du comportement des autres joueurs comme une fonction inconnue sans contrainte. Je cherche à identifier conjointement les fonctions de croyances et de gains. -
How Do People View Price and Wage Inflation?
Cette étude examine des données sur les ménages tirées de l’enquête sur les attentes des consommateurs au Canada. Elle vise à comprendre les attentes des ménages à l’égard de l’inflation des prix et des salaires, les liens entre ces attentes et l’opinion des ménages sur les conditions du marché du travail, ainsi que l’effet subséquent de ces attentes sur les perspectives des ménages quant à la croissance des dépenses réelles. -
