Efficience et concurrence dans le secteur bancaire canadien
Allen et Engert présentent les résultats de recherches menées récemment à la Banque du Canada sur divers aspects de l'efficience du secteur bancaire canadien. Ces recherches tendent à indiquer que les banques canadiennes sont des fournisseurs de services financiers relativement efficients et qu'elles n'exercent pas un pouvoir de monopole ou d'oligopole collusoire. Les auteurs soulignent qu'il est important de continuer à chercher des moyens d'accroître l'efficience et la concurrence dans le secteur canadien des services financiers. -
International Capital Flows and Bond Risk Premia
L’auteur étudie l’incidence des flux internationaux de capitaux sur les prix des actifs sous l’angle des primes de risque. Son objectif est de déterminer si les achats étrangers de titres du Trésor américain ont contribué de façon importante à la baisse des excédents de rendement des obligations à long terme observée entre 1995 et 2008. -
Markov‐Switching Three‐Pass Regression Filter
Nous introduisons une nouvelle méthode d’estimation des modèles factoriels de large dimension avec changements de régimes en élargissant le filtre de régression linéaire à trois passages afin d’intégrer des paramètres qui peuvent varier en fonction de processus de Markov. -
Unregulated Lending, Mortgage Regulations and Monetary Policy
Dans cette étude, nous évaluons l’efficacité des politiques macroprudentielles lorsqu’il y a des différences de réglementation d’un type de prêteurs hypothécaires à l’autre. Nous nous penchons sur le resserrement des conditions du crédit qui résulte des réglementations macroprudentielles et examinons dans quelle mesure celui-ci est contrebalancé par un déplacement de la demande de crédit vers les prêteurs non réglementés. Nous étudions également l’incidence d’un resserrement de la politique monétaire quand certains prêteurs ne sont soumis à aucune réglementation. -
International Portfolio Rebalancing and Fiscal Policy Spillovers
Nous évaluons sur le plan théorique et empirique les effets d’entraînement sur les autres économies des mesures de relance budgétaire aux États-Unis financées par l’émission de titres. Nous nous servons pour ce faire d’un modèle à deux pays dans lequel sont intégrés des effets de rééquilibrage des portefeuilles internationaux. Nous montrons que les mesures de relance budgétaire aux États-Unis font augmenter les taux des titres à long terme à l’échelle internationale et entravent l’activité économique dans le reste du monde. -
Quantifying Contagion Risk in Funding Markets: A Model-Based Stress-Testing Approach
Les auteurs proposent un cadre d’analyse maniable pour la réalisation de tests de résistance, fondé sur un modèle dans lequel les risques de solvabilité, les risques de liquidité de financement et les risques de marché des banques sont interreliés. -

La Banque peut accorder des avances aux participants directs au STPGV sous la forme de prêts à un jour garantis. Les actifs acceptés en garantie dans le cadre du mécanisme permanent d’octroi de liquidités sont aussi admis en vue de l’obtention, par les participants au STPGV, de liquidités intrajournalières. -
