Le dollar canadien comme monnaie de réserve
L’article procure un aperçu de la croissance des actifs libellés en dollars canadiens dans les réserves officielles de change. Selon des estimations fondées sur des données du Fonds monétaire international et des analyses internes de la Banque du Canada, la valeur totale de ces titres, qui était négligeable avant 2008, aurait atteint environ 200 milliards de dollars américains au troisième trimestre de 2013. Les déterminants de cette augmentation sont examinés, de même que les répercussions qu’elle pourrait avoir sur les marchés canadiens des titres d’emprunt, notamment une diminution des rendements et, partant, une réduction du coût du financement pour le gouvernement du Canada, et une incidence défavorable sur la liquidité des marchés. -
