Une analyse de la titrisation des prêts hypothécaires à l’habitation au Canada
La titrisation des prêts hypothécaires à l’habitation joue un rôle important dans le système canadien de financement du logement, notamment compte tenu de la part croissante de la titrisation soutenue par l’État (la titrisation publique) au cours des quinze dernières années. Mordel et Stephens analysent l’évolution de deux types de titrisation au Canada, la titrisation privée et la titrisation publique, en s’intéressant tout particulièrement aux politiques publiques sous-jacentes et aux avantages économiques de la titrisation publique. Ils passent en revue les conséquences potentielles de l’expansion de la titrisation publique et concluent par un examen des politiques qui pourraient être envisagées pour revigorer la titrisation privée au Canada. -

Dans les mois qui ont précédé la faillite de la maison Lehman Brothers en septembre 2008, les banques étaient disposées à payer une prime par-dessus le taux du guichet d’escompte de la Réserve fédérale afin d’accéder aux fonds du mécanisme d’adjudication de prêts à plus d’un jour (TAF). Nous soumettons à des tests empiriques les prédictions d’un nouveau modèle révélateur des effets de signal.
