Using Exchange-Traded Funds to Measure Liquidity in the Canadian Corporate Bond Market
Nous présentons une nouvelle variable d’approximation de la liquidité des obligations de sociétés fondée sur le prix des fonds négociés en bourse qui détiennent ce type de titre. Cette variable mesure la liquidité quotidienne moyenne de 900 obligations de sociétés, soit beaucoup plus que le nombre pris en compte par les autres variables d’approximation utilisées dans l’analyse précédente de la Banque du Canada. La nouvelle variable brosse néanmoins un tableau très similaire des conditions de la liquidité, et confirme le résultat précédent, à savoir que la liquidité des obligations de sociétés s’est améliorée en général depuis 2010. -
Les fonds d’obligations canadiennes peuvent-ils amplifier les tensions subies par le système financier?
Nous formulons un scénario hypothétique dans le but d’étudier l’influence des fonds obligataires sur l’amplification des chocs subis par le système financier. Les données de 2018 et de 2007 que nous avons utilisées révèlent que les fonds obligataires jouent maintenant un plus grand rôle qu’auparavant. -
Liquidity Management of Canadian Corporate Bond Mutual Funds: A Machine Learning Approach
Pour répondre aux demandes de rachat de parts des investisseurs et respecter leurs engagements, les gestionnaires de fonds obligataires doivent puiser dans leur trésorerie et vendre des obligations. Dans cette note, des algorithmes d’apprentissage automatique sont utilisés pour déceler un nouveau schéma décisionnel dans les choix que les gestionnaires doivent opérer dans ce contexte.
