A Calibrated Model of Intraday Settlement
Cette étude vise à estimer les expositions potentielles, les avantages sur le plan de la compensation et les gains en matière de règlements d’un modèle hypothétique de « système calibré de paiements » unique permettant de regrouper par lots des paiements de détail et de gros et de procéder à de multiples règlements intrajournaliers. Nos résultats démontrent que l’ampleur du risque de crédit auquel sont exposés les participants au système dépend largement de leur activité relative dans les systèmes de paiements de détail et de gros. Le système calibré réduit les expositions des participants grâce à une amélioration de la compensation et aux gains importants que permet la hausse de la valeur et du volume des paiements. -
Tail Risk in a Retail Payment System: An Extreme-Value Approach
L’importance croissante que revêt la gestion des risques dans les systèmes de paiement amené à l’élaboration d’un éventail d’outils destinés à atténuer le risque extrême dans ces systèmes. Nous utilisons des méthodes fondées sur la théorie des valeurs extrêmes pour quantifier l’ampleur du risque extrême dans le Système automatisé de compensation et de règlement (SACR) pour la période allant de 2002 à 2015. -
Wages: Measurement and Key Drivers
Les sources de données disponibles sur les salaires horaires au Canada envoient parfois des signaux contradictoires quant à la croissance de ceux-ci. La présente note comporte donc deux objectifs : d’abord, nous concevons une mesure commune des salaires (salaires-comm), qui rend mieux compte des pressions sous-jacentes exercées sur les salaires et qui reflète la tendance pour l’ensemble des sources de données. Ensuite, nous réexaminons la relation entre la croissance des salaires et les déterminants macroéconomiques (marge de ressources inutilisées sur le marché du travail et productivité du travail). -
Merchant Acceptance of Cash and Credit Cards at the Point of Sale
D’après de récentes données, l’utilisation au Canada des cartes de crédit a augmenté au détriment de celle de l’argent comptant. Pourtant, seuls les deux tiers des commerçants de petite et moyenne taille acceptent les cartes de crédit.
